What happened at Bikes Not Cars?

I wasn't able to make it to the Bike Not Cars Festival in Amsterdam a little over a week ago, but my roommate, Patrick, packed our tallbike, added a pirate flag and pedaled just over 60 kilometers to Amsterdam to participate in the weekend's festivities.
The first day was bike build and repair time. A graveyard of bikes was provided at a squatted workshop where welding machines and other tools were available for the creative mind.
This wicked bike made use of a motorcycle gas tank and a wheelbarrow to create a monstrous unicorn beast.
It is something about eyes and horns on the front of your ride that really look nice.Tallbikes were in high demand for the upcoming tallbike jousting competition.
Tallbikes are definitely the antithesis of fixies and these folks weren't afraid to remind everyone.
The festival included a fine Critical Mass of about 100 participants. Was this Amsterdam's first official Critical Mass? Patrick told me that people cheered them on more than getting pissed off. That's what I'd expect in a bike loving city like Amsterdam.

The festival ended with tallbike jousting and a cargo bike race. The cargo bikes were classic old large bakfiets and had two passengers and one driver. They had to pop water balloons on each lap.
